Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 May 2026  ·  FilingDecoded.com

FilingDecoded ("we", "our", or "us") operates the FilingDecoded Chrome extension and the website at FilingDecoded.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

1. Information We Collect

Free tier (no account required): To enforce the 10 free summaries per month limit, we store a device identifier (generated locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local) and your IP address on our server. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal information for the free tier.

Paid tier: When you subscribe, payment is processed by our payment provider (Paddle). We receive a Paddle customer ID and your email address to manage your subscription. We do not store your credit card details — these are handled entirely by Paddle.

Filing content: When you summarise a filing, we receive the extracted text from the financial document you are viewing. This text is sent to our server, processed, and the result returned to you. We do not permanently store the content of financial filings you submit.

Usage data: We log summary request counts per device/month for usage limit enforcement. We may also log basic request metadata (timestamp, source site, filing type) to monitor service health. We do not log the full content of documents sent for summarisation.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

Anthropic: Filing text is processed by the Anthropic API to generate summaries. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of data sent to their API. We send only the extracted filing text — no personal identifiers are included in API requests.

Paddle: Payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as Merchant of Record. Paddle's privacy policy governs their handling of your payment information and email address.

SEC EDGAR and third-party sites: When you use FilingDecoded on a financial filing website, we fetch the document content from that site's servers on your behalf. Our use of that content is governed by the respective site's terms of service.

4. Data Storage and Security

Device identifiers and usage counts are stored on our server (a VPS located in the United States, operated by Vultr). We use HTTPS for all data transmission between the extension and our server. Paid subscriber data (email and Paddle customer ID) is stored on the same server.

We retain usage data for up to 90 days for operational and debugging purposes, after which it is deleted. Email addresses for paid subscribers are retained for the duration of the subscription and for a reasonable period thereafter for billing dispute resolution.

5. Your Rights

You may request deletion of any data we hold associated with your device identifier or email address by contacting us at the address below. For paid subscribers, cancellation of your subscription can be done at any time via your Paddle billing portal.

Free tier users can reset their local device identifier by clearing the FilingDecoded extension data in Chrome Settings → Extensions → FilingDecoded → Clear Data. Note that this will also reset your monthly usage count.

6. Children's Privacy

FilingDecoded is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
